Appeal options
It is not always the case that the policyholder agrees with the decision made by the insurance company. This can be in relation to insurance claims for disability or serious illness.
The policyholder always has the right to appeal the decision in court. However, this can take a long time and become very costly.
To ease the appeal process, LÍV is a member of the Ankenævnet for Forsikring (the Danish Insurance Complaints Board). Therefore, it is possible to appeal the decision to Ankenævnet, if the decision was made in connection with an insurance event after December 1, 2004.
Before an appeal can be submitted to Ankenævnet for Forsikring, the policyholder must have attempted to reach a satisfactory settlement with LÍV. If you wish to proceed with an appeal, you can contact the claims handler at LÍV, Kári Davidsen, kari@liv.fo
